“If you want to build a ship, don't drum up people to collect wood and don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea.” —Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Hi, I’m Bushra 👋

I'm a San Francisco-based Sr. Product Manager with 5+ years of experience building pro social, marketplace, and well-being products. I enjoy taking ideas without a clear playbook, and turning them into interfaces that people find intuitive to use, understand, and love.

Currently, I’m working on Zyka, a nutrition label scanner app that helps people identify ultra-processed ingredients in everyday food items.

Here are some highlights and distinctions from past projects:

  • Launched a web app at Sean Parker’s Airtime, a social product research lab for co-watching movies and event experiences, to bring family and friends together in a shared context (Fig 1. X screenshot);

  • Drove over $5.2M in GMV for Instant Book at Peerspace, from newly activated listings, growing Instant Book to ~25% of all bookings in its first quarter of change by thoughtful design that mitigates risks through the process of user interviews, cross-collaborations, and feature flags

  • Named by Marc Andreessen in 2014 as one of Business Insider’s 55 Unknown Rockstars in Tech

Technology is both an intimate medium that affects our human condition, as well as a creative interface for our imagination and authorial intent. If I could keep only one book with me, it would be my copy of Neal Stephenson’s The Diamond Age.
